Deputy President, Mr. Thilak Godamanna, Deputy President, Mr. Sujeiva Samaraweera, Hony. Secretary and Mr. E M Wijetilleke, Secretary General/CEO of the National Chamber of Commerce.

Head of Delegation of European Union addresses the National Chamber Members

His Excellency Bernard Savage , Head of Delegation of the  European Union was the Guest Speaker at a presentation/discussion held under the topic  “EU Trade Policy and Opportunities for Sri Lanka” at the Auditorium of the National Chamber  of Commerce of Sri Lanka,  recently.  Ambassador Bernard Savage gave a comprehensive presentation on different features of E.U trade policy, current business and trade opportunities available for Sri Lanka in the European market, to a large gathering present. H.E. was assisted by Mr Roshan Lyman, Head of Trade of the Delegation of the European Union.

Malaysian High Commissioner Visits the National Chamber.

H.E. Azmi Zainudeen, High Commissioner of Malaysia was the Special Guest at a  seminar held on “Bilateral Trade Between Sri Lanka and Malaysia”  at the Chamber auditorium  recently. H.E was accompanied by the Counsellor of the High Commission of Malaysia, Mr Tan Li Lung at the seminar.

A high powered Austrian delegation visits the National Chamber

A high powered 5 Member Austrian delegation of senior officials of the Austrian Government, headed by His Excellency Dr. Wolfgang Waldner, State Secretary /Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria visited the National Chamber, on 30th April 2012 and met Chamber officials, invitees and Guests.

Dr. Waldner was accompanied by His Excellency Ferdinand Maultaschl, Ambassador of Austria to   Sri Lanka based in New Delhi, Mr Hans-Joerg Hoertnagl, Austrian Trade Commissioner, Austrian Embassy, New Delhi, Mr. Florian Korchzak, Private Secretary to the State Secretary Dr. Waldner, Mr. Peter Hubber, Chief of Cabinet, Govt. of Austria and Mr. Benhard Zimburg, Head of the Asia Dept, Govt of Austria. The Honorary Consul for Austria in Sri Lanka, Mr. Senaka Amarasinghe, Managing Director, Car Mart Ltd too participated.  The visit was co-ordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs, Colombo and was represented by Mr. A S Khan, Director General (Economic Affairs) and Mr. Maxwell Keegal, Actg. Director Political Affairs. Businessmen and personalities who had interests with Austria attended the meeting. A networking session was held between the visiting delegation and members/invitees. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Asoka Hettigoda, President National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General and Senior Assistant Secretary General of the National Chamber participated at the meeting, which was well attended.

Visit of Seven Member Youth Delegation from USA

A  Seven member youth delegation from the USA  under an exchange program of American Council of Young Political Leader (ACYPL) in Washington DC, USA visited the chamber on 30th March 2012 and had a meeting  with members of the Chamber chaired by Mr Asoka Hettigoda, President of the National Chamber of Commerce . 

The exchange program was to promote the exchange of visits  of young political leaders between the USA and Sri Lanka  to study political, economic, social and cultural development in each other's country. They were keen to meet   representatives of  Small & Medium  Enterprises (SME)  in Sri Lanka.   

Included in the Delegation was a  Member of the House of Representatives of the State of Vermont , Hon. Adam Howard, . The delegation consisted of the following members.1)  Ashley Holbrook , Director, State and Local Government Relations, The Boeing Company ,Republican 2)Hon Adam Howard, Member , Vermont House of youth Representatives Republican 3)  Alexander Kuhns, Board Member , Cincinnati Public Schools ,Independent . 4)  Kyle Hybl, Chairman , University of Colorado Board of Regents, Republican 5) Jeanette Manning, Chief , Public  Safety Division, Office of the Attorney General of DC, Democrat 6) Elizabeth Mc Elroy, Assistant to the President/Political Director, Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO  Democrat  7)  Rick Smotkin, Vice President, Government Affairs, Comcast Cable Corporation (PA), Republican
